gay marriage & the commerce clause

spent the morning in study group going through hypos.  my favorite one? gay marriage.  i know either gay marriage or the 2nd amendment’s incorporation will be thrown at me on wednesday AND, my god, i am going to be ready.

light reading: the case brief

june, 2010: the supreme court will hear McDonald v. City of Chicago concerning Chicago’s ban on hand guns.  they are asking the Supreme Court to overturn the Slaughter-House Cases which denied the incorporation of the Bill of Rights to the states.  meaning, that those amendments which grant right to free speech, etc. don’t actually apply to the states unless specifically incorporated through subsequent cases.  the right to bear arms has NOT been incorporated.  this is HUGE.  HUGE.

yes, guns will always be around.  yes, even if chicagoans (e.g., ME!) could carry a handgun around, it doesn’t change the fact that people are already doing it (not me).

another day, another clause

another day spent studying for law school finals.  after picking through the commerce clause and all of its glory, i will try to sleep.  10AM library, 12AM mock exam.  in order to stay positive, i should note, comparably, i find final exam period much better because i can still spend an unreasonably amount of time at home.  not in class, not in transitioning, not in meetings.  it is up to MY schedule of studying not just when i have “breaks” or until 3am when i am done reading for the next day’s worth of classes.

a stiff cocktail will never have tasted so good as it will next wednesday after my con law final.  i hope my dad is ready for his daughter to be drunk when he picks me up at the airport.

oh law school, how you make me lonely, in the worst of ways.  it is worth it.
